Sergeant Giraffe | The Sunset View | Iron Fruit Man
In my artworks, I have experimented with watercolour pencils, charcoal and acrylic paints. I was most surprised by the medium of watercolour pencils as I did not know that by adding water, I could change a pencil rendering into a painting. I learnt how to blend different types of colours together and that by adding different textures or highlighting certain lines, I could make the focus of the artwork stand out more.
My favourite work is ‘Sergeant Giraffe’ as I like the effect that I managed to achieve in the background. The explosion adds tension to the story. The contrast between the colours of the giraffe and the background also helped to bring the main character out more. From this, I learnt that the background in an artwork is just as important as what is in front of it.
I aspire to be an interior designer in the future, as I would like to design my future home, for both my parents and myself. The illustrations that an interior designer creates bring much comfort as it represents a home, a place of safety and bonding.
