Tortoises | Autumn Scene

Throughout the year, I have experimented with different materials and media such as charcoal, acrylic paint and watercolour pencils. There were some lessons that I learnt which could be applied across all the different mediums. For example, rendering techniques such as toning as well as adding details to a work were useful in helping me create more convincing artworks.

My favourite work is “Autumn Scene” as it portrays vibrant colours and reminds me of some very personal experiences. The colours were chosen to express feelings of warmth and happiness.

I aspire to be an illustrator in the future and create illustrations of children’s storybooks. I remember reading a storybook entitled “Fairy Promise” and the vibrant and colourful illustrations in it really inspired me. I believe such illustrations make books more appealing to children, thus helping them to develop a love and interest in reading.
