The Octopus City | The Port | Childhood Memories
Initially, I struggled with painting as I found it hard to control the brush. However, I was able to overcome that difficulty through constant practice. I also learnt how to mix colours better. Through painting, I am able to express my thoughts and emotions, and that is why I enjoy it the most amongst the different art media.
My favourite work is ‘Childhood Memories’. When I was around seven years old, I spent three years in Paris. At the back of our house, there was a forest. My friends and I would go to the forest to catch frogs and put them in jars. It was an extremely fun and memorable experience and that is why I have chosen to depict it in my work. The artwork also records my pining for our cat, which we had to leave behind in Paris when we left for Singapore.
I aspire to be an architect in the future so that I can design better homes for people. Building better homes is important as they are a place of comfort, beauty and love, and are therefore important to the well-being of a family.
